NIAGARA FALLS — The All WNY bowling team picked up a much-needed seven points Tuesday night against the National Association of Letter Carriers #661 team in the Sanborn Businessmen’s bowling league at Rapids Bowling Center.

A rare blind in the league in place of NALC team member Terry Haseley put the mailmen at a disadvantage from the start. The absence meant the team would get a 150-spot and no handicap in each game in Haseley’s stead.

Aside from the blind, team NALC — composed of Chas Wildt, Doug (DJ) Betts and Tim Thomsen — bowled quite well, earning an 806-799-857 for a 2462 series (with handicap). Breaking it down, Wildt rolled a 186-136-174 for a 496. Betts rolled a 130-211-232 for a 573. And Thomson bowled a 188-1150-149 for a 487.

On the All WNY side, Tyler Mondoux shot a 148-184-227 for an uncharacteristic 559 series. Anthony Berak bowled a 110-107-85 for a 302 on the night. Scott Leffler rolled a 142-108-127 for a 377. And team captain Andrew McGrath came up big with a 178-163-238 for a 579 on the night.

With handicaps, the All WNY team bowled a 862-846-961 for a 2669.

Starting the night in 8th place, the All WNY team is likely to increase their ranking by a place or two going into next week.
