Dorothea E. Ditzen, 82, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Trier, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Hans and Elisabeth (Sconefeld) Schwarz.
Dorothea attended schools in Germany, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Jewelry. She came to the United States in 1970 with her husband, Lt. Col. William Ditzen Jr., USAF Ret. Mr. Ditzen predeceased her on February 11, 2013.
Dorothea was employed with Tiffany & Company in New York City, a job she was very proud of. She later owned and operated her own business, Dorothea’s Fine Jewelry in Williamsville, NY, from the mid 1990’s until 2001, and later continued to operate out of her home studio.
Dorothea is survived by her son, Joachim (Angela) Kramp, her grandchildren, Konstantin and Meret, and her sister, Helga Floss, all of Germany, as well as several beloved friends.
