BROCKPORT – Joseph Desmonie (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) scored his fifth goal of the season for the Bengals, but the Buffalo State men’s soccer team fell by a final score of 3-1 to Brockport to open the SUNYAC regular season on Wednesday afternoon.

  • Desmonie scored his goal on one of his two shots on goal in the contest.
  • David Wozniak (Staten Island, NY/Susan E. Wagner) provided the assist on the goal.
  • The Bengals had four shots on target in the game, including one each by JB Almontaser (Lackawanna, NY/Lackawanna) and Diego Rivera (Hudson, NY/Cairo-Durham)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Brockport struck first just past the halfway point of the first half as DJ Taylor headed in a redirected free kick into the net to open the scoring.
  • The Golden Eagles doubled their advantage right before halftime on an unassisted goal by Sean Lee.
  • In the 70th minute, Desmonie pulled the Bengals to within one, as Buffalo State started to show signs of a comeback.
  • The Golden Eagles responded just two minutes later to put the game out of reach, and neither team was able to score after that point.

FOR THE FOES

  • Andrew Taylor made three saves in goal for Brockport.
