NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. –  The visiting Duquesne Dukes (2-1-1) defeated Niagara (0-4-1) 2-1 Saturday night in non-conference action from Niagara Field. The Purple Eagles goal was scored by Felix Kogler in the 82nd miunte of action.

How it Happened
Duquense came out firing off shots in the first half with six coming in the first 25 minutes of action, including one that challenged Niagara’s sophomore keeper, Jamie Barry in the eighth minute of play.

The Purple Eagles would record their first shot on goal in the 30th minute of play when Lucas Fenton tried to get one past the Dukes keeper, but failed to do so, keeping the game scoreless.

Barry would make a pair of saves to close out the half and keep the Dukes of the scoreboard before the intermission.

The Dukes didn’t waste time in the second half of play to record the games first goal as a cross in the 47th minute found the Duquesne goal scorer for the opening brace.

NU had an excellent chance to tie the game at 1-1 in the 63rd minute, when Kevin Payne headed a free kick toward the goal but the diving Duke goalie was there for the stop, keeping NU off the board.

After a pair of stops by Barry, the Dukes once again found the back of the net to take a two-goal lead over the Purple Eagles.

Asher Barnes would nearly score on two separate occasions, first in the 69th minute and again in the 79th minute, but both attempts went just over the crossbar.

In the 81st minute, Fenton unloaded one in front that was met by the Duquesne goalie but caromed out in front where Kogler collected it and deposited his first goal as a Purple Eagle into the back of the net, cutting the Duke lead in half.

Piecarlo Arghittu would record Niagara’s final two shots of the night, as the final buzzer sounded with the Purple Ealges trailing, 2-1.
