FREDONIA – Four different Bengals scored as the Buffalo State men’s soccer team defeated Houghton 4-0 on Saturday afternoon, winning the Fredonia Classic title and keeping their third consecutive clean sheet. Ayden Cristales (Williamson, NY/Williamson) was named Tournament MVP, while Diego Rivera (Hudson, NY/Cairo-Durham), Yousif Kowa (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech), and Ali Mohammed (Lackawanna, NY/Lackawanna) were also named to the All-Tournament Team.

- Riley Quinn (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster), Joseph Desmonie (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane), and Manu Prieto (Cascais, Portugal/Salesianos Do Estoril) scored for the Bengals.
- Rivera netted his fifth goal of the season, and has now scored in all four games for Buffalo State. He also recorded an assist.
- Shae Wirt (Overland Park, KS/St. Thomas Aquinas) made three saves to earn his third consecutive clean sheet.
- Aney Djadou (Buffalo, NY/Amherst) recorded his first collegiate point with an assist, while Mohammed also had an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Quinn netted the opening goal of the game in the 16th minute off of an assist from Mohammed, the first goal of his career.
- Rivera assisted Desmonie’s third goal in as many games in the 32nd minute to give the Bengals a 2-0 lead into halftime.
- Buffalo State scored two more goals in under a minute in the 64th and 65th minutes to put the game out of reach.
- The Highlanders were only able to muster a total of six shot attempts in the game, with only three being on target.
