The owner of Sunrise Laundry, in Hamburg, NY for over thirty years. Anna Marie Zukowski, passed away at Erie County Medical Center at the age of 66.

Anna was a nurturer, in business and in her home. She was a “dream boss” who ran her business with empathy and kindness. Previous to operating the Laundry, Annie was a registered nurse in California. At Christmas and on Mother’s Day, she always received calls from former employees from all over the country.

Anna created beautiful, welcoming spaces for her family to live in. She had an intuitive sense of design and color, and each home she created was special and visually arresting.

Ann loved to entertain, and she cooked big, festive breakfasts for overnight visitors to her family’s home.  She especially enjoyed the Full Moon Celebrations that she and her husband hosted each Fall featuring local musicians and abundant tables of delicious food. Ann’s focus was to bring people together, whether family, friends, or employees.

John and Anna had a long love affair with the Hawaiian Islands and had many adventures backpacking and hiking there. Ann was kind, generous, and inclusive – she truly embodied the Hawaiian mindset of Ohana (Family) and Aloha (Love).

She is survived by her best friend and the love of her life, her beloved husband, John Zukowski.

A devoted mother of Ruben Zukowski and cherished daughter of the late Patricia and Thomas Reilly.

The loving sister of William (Sandy) Szczygiel, John (Lizzy) Szczygiel, Kathy (Allen) Hornberger, Bernadette (Arthur) Stanback, the late Christine Szczygiel, and also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Family and friends will be gathering for a Celebration of Life to honor Anna on September 23, 2023.
