Junior keeper Jordan Spencer recorded six saves for Canisius in a 0-0 draw versus Detroit Mercy in collegiate women’s soccer action Thursday at the Demske Sports Complex.

Both the Golden Griffins and Titans to move 0-1-2 on the season with Thursday’s scoreless tie.

Detroit Mercy out-shot Canisius by a 11-5 margin but were unable to solve Spencer, who turned away all six of the Titans chances on target.

Abbey Lodato recorded Detroit Mercy’s first two shots of the game in the 11th and 14th minutes, respectively, but both attempts were corralled by Spencer in the center of the goal.

The Griffs first shot of the game came from midfielder Lizzy Harkness, but was pushed away from the bottom right-corner of the net by Titans keeper Jazmine Scott.

Detroit Mercy would get their best chance of the game in the 37th minute on a rip from Erica Toupin that would deflect off of the top woodwork and result in a goal kick for Canisius.

Canisius would turn right around when sophomore Mia Iacona had a great chance in the 37th minute that would be knocked away by Scott.

The Griffs first chance of the second half came from the foot of sophomore midfielder Skylar Cornell, but her shot would be saved in the bottom left by Scott.

Detroit Mercy would try and get something going in the 53rd minute on a shot from Sophia Blankenship, but once again Spencer was there to make the save.

The Titans would have another chance late in the game in a potential through ball but it would be called for offsides.

The Griffs final chance would come from junior midfielder Emma Oliphant, in the 75th minute, but she would send her shot over the net.
