Richard ‘Rick’ Eldridge, 67, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2023. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Audrey ‘Stevie’ Mae (Stephenson) Eldridge.

Rick attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1974. In the late 1970’s, he moved to Las Vegas, NV, and was a cement mason by trade. He later returned to Niagara Falls and worked at numerous plants including Occidental Chemical Corporation, as well as Cascades and Durez Corporation as a stationary engineer for many years. He was active in several unions and served as chief union steward with the United Steelworkers District 4-209 when he retired from Durez. Rick was considered by all to be a great union brother with an impeccable work ethic. “A working class hero is something to be.”

Rick was a extraordinary orator and story teller with an unforgettable sense of humor. He was a true history buff, who had the gift of gab and would often incorporate song lyrics and movie quotes in his everyday conversation.

Rick was surrounded by a huge friend circle across the country. Those friendships were very important to him, especially at his cabin on the Alleghany River in ‘Shipman’s Eddy’ and the LaSalle Alumni. “Remember no man is a failure who has friends.”

Rick had a love for music and was a passionate fan of the local Rock & Roll music scene. He was a lifelong outdoorsman enjoying the camaraderie of his hunting buddies. Rick was also a longtime member of several local softball teams and bowling leagues throughout the years. Above all, Rick cherished the time spent with his family.

Rick is survived by his beloved Louise Keel and their sweet little dog, Gretchen; his son, Sean Eldridge; two grandchildren, Lilah and Ebenezer Eldridge; his stepson, Joe Garbinsky; one brother, Eric (Tito Ibarrola) Eldridge; his special cousin, Beth Lowery; several other cousins and many loving friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 13 from 1 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 7:00 PM.
