BUFFALO – Led by Cameron Eden’s four RBIs, the Buffalo Bisons offense was on fire as they defeated the Syracuse Mets 10-6 at Sahlen Field on Saturday night.

The Mets took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Danny Mendick hit a 2-out double to right field, allowing Jonathan Arauz to round home and score.

Wynton Bernard didn’t waste any time tying the game up for the Herd as he sent the first pitch he saw flying over the left field wall for a solo home run, 1-1. This is Bernard’s third home run of the season and his first at Sahlen Field.

Syracuse would claim a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth after DJ Stewart was hit by a pitch while the bases were loaded, leading to Mendick crossing home plate.

The game was knotted at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth thanks to Bernard again as he hit a long double to the far left corner of the field, sending Jordan Luplow home. The Herd took their first lead of the game when L.J. Talley singled to left and Bernard scored Buffalo’s third run of the game to make the score 3-2. The bats stayed alive for the Bisons this inning as Cameron Eden singled to right and Jamie Ritchie rounded home, 5-2.
The Bisons couldn’t stop scoring in the bottom of the fourth as Otto Lopez made the score 6-2 with a line drive single left, scoring Eden from second base. The Bisons extended their lead to 7-2 when Mets pitcher Eric Orze balked, advancing Rafael Lantigua to home.

The Mets started chipping away at the Bisons’ lead in the top of the fifth when Ronny Mauricio made the score 7-3 when he scored on a fielder’s choice off of Jaylin Davis’ bat.
Syracuse made it a three-run game in the top of the seventh when Luke Ritter advanced home after Luke Voit walked with the bases loaded, 7-4.

Buffalo added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh as Talley singled on a line drive to left field, making the score 8-4 as Bernard ran home for his third run of the night.

Eden helped tack on another run to the Herd’s lead when he made the score 9-4 with a long sacrifice fly to right, allowing Ritchie to reach home from third base.

Eden added another RBI to his stat sheet tonight as he drove in Luplow with a ground ball to right, making the score 10-4. This is Eden’s first four RBI game of the season, his most in a single game this year.

The Mets made a last second effort for a comeback in the top of the ninth as Mauricio hit his 11th home run of the season, good for 2 RBIs and a 10-6 game.

The Bisons look to split the series with the Mets on Sunday in the final game of the six-game series. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. in downtown Buffalo.
