Daniel J. Trane, 63, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on June 9, 2023 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Paul L. and Mary Louise (Watt) Trane.
Dan was employed as a Truck and Delivery Driver for Certo Brothers Distributing for 20 years, where he served as Union Steward. In his younger years, he was a manager of Club Exit and was a bouncer at several local bars. He also was employed in the Kitchen at St. Mary’s Hospital, and was a houseman at the Hilton Hotel. Dan was a member of the Niagara Falls YMCA, the Boys Club, and the Cristoforo Colombo Society.
A fitness enthusiast, Dan loved playing racquetball, handball, lifting weights, and jogging. He also enjoyed to play cornhole. Dan was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins and loved listening to live local music. Known to many as “Freight Train”, he was the biggest jokester in Niagara Falls – no one ever knew what was going to come out of his mouth. Recently, he was the Mayor of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and Niagara Hospice, visiting fellow patients, brightening their days and the nursing staff’s days with his unique personality.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Pamela R. (Trowman) Trane; his son, Daniel J. Trane II (fiancée Catherine Jayes); his grandchildren, Mackenzie Krell and Daniel J. Trane III; his siblings, Pearl (late Joseph) Lankin, Leonard Trane (Judy Gunzelman), Anthony (Judy) Trane, and Patricia Vendetti, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandson, Logan Alexander Trane.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 13 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will be held at 7 PM.
