The Bisons offense erupted for 12 runs on 16 hits in a 12-1 victory over the Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field in downtown Toledo on Sunday afternoon. Davis Schneider homered twice as part a four-hit game and rehabbing Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen added three hits as the Herd secured a 4-2 series win over the Hens.

Schneider finished the game 4-for-5 with a single and a double to go along with his team-leading 13th and 14th home runs of the season. The left fielder drove in four runs and scored four times himself. Jansen had a pair of doubles as a part of his three-hit game and was 5-for-10 with a 1.625 OPS during his weekend injury assignment with Buffalo.

The Herd actually tailed 1-0 early on Sunday before Schneider, Jansen and the offense went to work with a five-run third inning. Jansen started the rally with a single, and a batter later Schneider advanced Jansen with a single of his own. Spencer Horwitz drove in both runners with a double to center, and then Otto Lopez scored Horwitz with a groundball single through the infield. Wynton Bernard, up next, walked, and then LJ Talley hit a single to load the bases. After a pitching change, the Mud Hen reliever hit Cameron Eden, the first batter he faced, to force in a run. Rafael Lantigua grounded into a fielder’s choice next to score Bernard, and then Jansen grounded out to end the rally.

Schneider increased the Bisons lead with a homer in the top of the fourth that made the score 6-1 Buffalo.

The Bison bats stayed quiet in the fifth inning, but in the top of the sixth, Schneider doubled home Ernie Clement, who had earlier reached on a double of his own. Lopez singled home Schneider later in the inning before the Bisons finished scoring in the inning, making the score 8-1 Buffalo.

Schneider once again extended the lead in the top of the eighth inning with a home run to right center field.

The Bisons piled on with three runs in the top of the ninth to make the score 12-1. Schneider walked to push in Eden, and then Horwitz walked to push in Jamie Ritchie. Lopez recorded his third RBI of the afternoon with an infield single that scored Clement.

Brandon Eisert threw a clean bottom of the ninth to close out the win and the 4-2 series win for Buffalo.

After allowing a run in the bottom of the first inning, Buffalo starter Zach Thompson went the next four innings without allowing a run and recorded his third win of the season for Buffalo. After, Yosver Zulueta, Hagen Danner and Eisert threw four scoreless innings to close out the game for Buffalo.

The Bisons will have an off day on Monday before they return to Sahlen Field on Tuesday against the Syracuse Mets.
