Carol M. Schrader, 78, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023 at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary (Battaglia) Zanghi.

Carol was a 1962 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and later graduated from Geneseo College with a Degree in Culinary Arts, later working as a dietitian at Ransomville Hospital and St. Mary’s Manor. On May 28, 1966, she married Thomas E. Schrader at St. Joseph Church. Mr. Schrader predeceased her on December 30, 2002.

Her concern for the well-being of others led her to a satisfying career with Niagara County Department of Health, beginning in the 1970s and culminating with her retirement in the early 2000s after 30 plus years of service as a Senior Financial Investigator with the Physically Handicapped Children Program. Carol loved to cook, feed people and entertain – her kitchen was well known as a gathering place for hot coffee, conversation and laughter. The biggest joy in her life was her family. She loved to spend time with her children and attended all of their events growing up. Carol also enjoyed taking care of her numerous cats and dogs over the years.

Carol is survived by her children, Michele (Nicholas) Catanzaro and Philip (Karen) Schrader; her grandchildren, Nicholas Catanzaro, Jr., Seth Schrader, Alec Schrader, and Gabriel Schrader; her sister, Angela (late Ernest) Gedeon, her nieces, Lauren Palmer, Lisa Chester Hoy (Frank), Lynn Velasco and Jody (late Skip) Brown, as well as many cousins.
