CYNTHIA CHERYL NOWLIN (Timmons) entered this world at 1:57 p.m., born to Arnez Owens and Ina Jean Timmons. She was a small baby at only five pounds, and had a very small frame later, but her strength, will, and perseverance allowed her to overcome some of life’s greatest obstacles.

Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Cindy graduated from East High School in 1980, then later went on to a long-term career with the Buffalo News, where she dedicated 32+ years and excelled as a Journeyman.

Cindy was united in marriage with her soulmate, Garfield Nowlin III, in 1988, after their meeting two years prior. After ignoring his pursuit of her on three separate occasions, she finally agreed to a date that marked the first day of their next 37 years.

When not putting in plenty of regular and overtime hours at work, Cindy found ways to relax and just enjoy life. She loved traveling to new and different places with friends. She dreamed of one day having a recreational vehicle that she and Gar could travel in across the nation. Some of her favorite past times were bargain shopping for quality stuff, listening to good music, expressing her individuality through bold hair colors, wearing fine gold jewelry, and displaying a unique style of dressing.

Cindy is remembered for her great sense of humor, which brought smiles and laughter to so many. Her really famous sayings that will echo in the ears of friends and family forever are; “Okaaaaaaay”, “Wow”, and “Right”.

Cindy laughed hard and had a big contagious smile. Yet, perhaps the biggest and most memorable part of her was how deeply her heart cared that things were fair, equitable, and right for everyone. She left the biggest part of her heart reserved for her mini loves, “Diva” and “Donta.”

Eternal love and memories of Cindy will endure forever in the heart of her husband, Garfield Nowlin, III.  Also left to mourn is her only brother, Lamont Earl Timmons; a host of cousins: Cassietta Whitfield, Tanya Fonville, Lynda Fonville, Kamilah, Yolanda, Sonya, and more; sisters-in-law: Evette Nowlin and Tracy Jones: brothers-in-law: Steve Nowlin and Dennis Nowlin; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Ina Jean Timmons; and her grandmother, Inez Timmons.

Cindy entered into eternal rest on April 7, 2023. She leaves to cherish her memories with a host of loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 17, 2023, 11AM at Saints Home C.O.G.I.C., 323 Winspear Avenue, Buffalo, New York 14215. Funeral Service to follow at 12 PM. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
