Rosemarie (Marie) Scaletta, 85, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family on April 3, 2023. She was born to Ignatius J. and Frances (Sabbato) Barone-Carlo.
Marie worked at the Beirs Department Store in Niagara Falls and was very involved with the Niagara Falls Board of Education. She loved cooking, baking, and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her lifelong, childhood friends Nancy DeCarlo and Donna Clayton—who affectionally referred to themselves as the “Three Musketeers.” However, nothing brought her more joy than her family. She treasured any time spent with them, especially if it included preparing a traditional Italian Sunday dinner or dining out together.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Susan Scaletta-Gaffney; her grandchildren, Janelle (Billy) Rivera, Daniel Gaffney, Christine (Justin) Parish, and Kathleen (Mike) Evans, who affectionately called her Mema; great-grandchildren Mariana, Julianna, Billy Jr., Mateo, and Chase. She is predeceased by her husband Frank, who passed away December 6, 2016, as well as her parents, her step-father Frank Carlo, and her brother Robert (Bobby) Barone.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Mt. Carmel Church, Niagara Falls. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
