Marlene J. Gasbarre, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023, while a resident of Schoellkopf Health Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Simon and Eva (Spencer) Rivers.

Marlene was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1950. On May 31, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Salvatore “Sam” Gasbarre at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Marlene and Sam were married for 62 years, before his death in 2014. An avid reader, Marlene enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and going to the casino, but her greatest pleasure was spending time with friends and family, playing cards.

Marlene is survived by her sons Dominic (Lesleigh) Gasbarre and Richard (Billie) Gasbarre; her grandsons Nicholas Gasbarre, Samuel Gasbarre and Tyler Gasbarre; Christopher and Timothy Keefe and Ryan Mason; and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters Dawn (Ronald) Huey, Judith (Dr. Lawrence) Volland, Patricia (Michael) Barnes and one brother, Robert (Sharon) Rivers, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Gail Rivers.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Leo’s Church (St. Vincent de Paul Parish), 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice Foundation, Inc. or a charity of one’s choice. A Celebration of Life is planned in August 2023, in commemoration of her 90th birthday.
