Frank B. Martinez, 98, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on February 15, 2022 at his residence under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born in Meadowbrook, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Louis and Josephine (Menendez) Martinez.

Frank proudly served in the United States Coast Guard in wartime from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946.  On November 15, 1947, he married Catherine P. ‘Kay’ (Porto) Martinez.  Mrs. Martinez predeceased him on June 16, 2022.  Frank was employed as a mason with Local #2 in Niagara Falls, NY and worked at Union Carbide in that capacity for 32 years, from 1954 until 1986.  He received a 75-year honor plaque from Local #3 of Buffalo, where he was also a member, for his lifelong service as a mason.  

In his younger years, he enjoyed square dancing with his wife.  He also enjoyed singing Christian music and rhyming, and was very involved with his wife in Bible Studies.  Frank was very active in the Spanish club, and also enjoyed completing word search puzzles. Above all, he will be remembered for his work ethic and devotion to his family.

Frank is survived by his children, Darcy Martinez, Corrine ‘Corry’ (John) Cochol, Frank (Teresa) Martinez, Jr. and Mary Martinez; his grandchildren, Andrea Woolf, Stephen (Chelsea) Woolf, Bethany (Fred) Lang, Leah (Bobby) Kraft, Jessica (Pete) Crispino, Douglas Minteer, Jr., Danielle (George) Lloyd, Liana DiLara, Frank Martinez, III and Benjamin Martinez; 9 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his wife of 75 years, he was predeceased by his daughter, Tara Martinez-Woolf, as well as by 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
