BUFFALO – Chris Kaszynski (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West) from the men’s indoor track and field team and Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) from the women’s hockey team have been named Bengal Athletes of the Week for their respective performances this past weekend.
Kaszynski, a sophomore business major, broke the school record in the pole vault with a jump of 4.60 meters. Kaszynski bests the previous mark of 4.55 meters, which he tied earlier this season to earn a share of the record with Matt Allen’s 2012 performance. His jump has him sitting fifth in the SUNYAC and also has earned him a spot at the All-Atlantic Regional Championships in March.
The indoor track and field teams return to action this weekend as they travel to Brockport for the Brockport Multi Meet.
Auge, a sophomore computer information systems major, tallied 80 total saves in the teams weekend contests against Morrisville. On Friday, Auge racked up 34 saves to help the Bengals earn their first NEWHL victory since February of 2020. On Saturday, Auge tallied another 46 saves in the Bengals’ efforts. She currently has a .914 save percentage on the season and has 684 saves (which is the highest save total in the NEWHL).
The women’s hockey team returns to the rink this weekend as they will play a pair of contests with Hilbert College.
