Angel Martinez, 74, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on June 3, 2022, in Palermo, Italy. Born in San Antonio, TX, he was the son of the late Pedro and Isabel (Garza) Martinez.

Angel was raised in San Antonio, TX. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on May 20, 1966 and was stationed at the Niagara Falls Air Base until his honorable discharge in 1969.

Angel married his beloved wife, Nancy J. (Bickford) Martinez on April 28, 1971 at St. Albert The Great Church. They lived in Niagara Falls and raised two sons together. Nancy predeceased him on October 2, 2021.

Angel was employed by the Niagara Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant as a supervisor for many years prior to his retirement. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. John De Lasalle Church, where he continued to work after his retirement. 

Angel was active in the community and a longtime volunteer of the Police Athletic League and a former Boy Scout Leader. He was also an avid bowler and loved to travel with his wife. Above all, Angel enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Isabel.

Angel is survived by his children, David Martinez and Adam Martinez; his granddaughter, Isabel “Izzy” Martinez; his siblings, Santos Martinez, Robert Martinez, Richard Martinez, Mike Martinez, David Martinez, Eddie Martinez, Roy Martinez, Paul Martinez, Vangie Palacios, Sylvia Teeters, Josie DeLuna and Elizabeth Jimenez; his special niece, Yvette Rocha; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four siblings, Blas Martinez, Pedro Martinez, Rudy Martinez and Margaret Martinez.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 20 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin Tuesday at 9:15 AM, followed by Angel’s Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. John De LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.
