DAISY L. MCCRARY, lovingly known as “Shug,” was born February 14, 1930 to the late Alfonso and Priscilla Cole in Dallas County, Alabama; Daisy was the eldest of 16 siblings.

At a young age, Daisy joined Macedonia Baptist Church and confessed her life to Christ. She later relocated to Birmingham, Alabama, where she worked as a child care provider and beautician. In 1957, Shug and her sister, Julia, journeyed to Buffalo, New York. Making Buffalo their home, they both joined the Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Elder Nelly.

While living in Buffalo, Shug was gainfully employed in food service at Buffalo Public School No. 6. She received her license as a beautician and later retired in the early 1980’s as a personal care aide. In 1983, Daisy was united in holy matrimony to Dallas McCrary.

Daisy enjoyed singing, fishing, sewing, working in the church as an usher, and spending time with her family.

On June 25, 2020, Daisy McCrary received the greatest gift of eternal peace; she was called into the open arms of The Creator.

Daisy leaves to cherish her memory her children, Robert “Bra-man,” (Diane), Jacob “Rat,” Joseph “Ricky” (Diane), Wiley “June,” (Sandra), Vincent, and Daisy “Doll,” (Henry); stepchildren: Izetta, Cynthia, and Terry; 11 sisters, 2 brothers, 32 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren, and a special daughter, Carolyn “Dee-Dee,” and a host of other loving family and friends.
