CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS
Canisius cross country and track head coach Nate Huckle has announced the addition of Tyler Schevingand Aileen Doyle to his staff for the upcoming 2019-20 season. Scheving will serve as an assistant coach, while Doyle will be the program’s graduate assistant.
“We are thrilled to welcome two new assistant coaches to our program for the upcoming seasons,” said Huckle. “Tyler and Aileen bring a wealth of competitive knowledge to the table from their own NCAA experiences, which will greatly benefit our student-athletes as they pursue academic and athletic excellence.”
Scheving arrives on Main Street after spending the last two seasons as a member of the University at Buffalo cross country/track and field coaching staff as an assistant. While on staff at Buffalo, Scheving helped mentor the Bulls first-ever track athlete to participate in the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Prior to being on staff with the Bulls, Scheving was a Mid-American Conference Champion for Buffalo, where he competed in both cross country and track for five years. During his career Scheving was a three-time conference champion, with two distance medlay relay titles in 2014 and 2015, culminating with an individual title in the 800m in 2017.
Doyle, a two-time MAAC All-Academic team member finished her career as a runner at Canisius last May, graduating with a degree in both psychology and communications.
Doyle’s senior season was highlighted by a seventh-place finish in the 10K at the MAAC Outdoor Championships, as she crossed the line in a personal-best time of 38:16.74. She recorded two top-35 finishes at the MAAC Cross Country Championship and four top-five finishes at the Little Three Championship.
The 2019 cross country season begins Friday with the 51st running of the Little Three Championships. This season’s race will be hosted by Canisius at Delaware Park starting at 6 p.m.
