This week’s featured event is The Tins, The Demos, The Leones, & Leyda (solo)
Hailing from Buffalo, NY, four-piece indie rock outfit, The Tins weave captivating harmonic anthems into a sonic fabric laced with threads of ’60’s psychedelic pop, static-washed folk, and new-wave art rock. Together, keyboardist Mike Santillo, drummer Dave Muntner, guitarist Adam Putzer, and bassist Justin John Smith draw listeners into a world crackling with “brilliant pop exuberance” (USA Today). Their debut full length, Life’s A Gas was written by the band with veteran producer Joe Blaney (The Clash, Prince, Modest Mouse). Since then they’ve gone on to work with Grammy award-winning producer Ted Young (Kurt Vile, The Gaslight Anthem, Andrew W.K.), toured extensively throughout North America, and garnered millions of plays across streaming music platforms. The success of “Lovely” landed Rochester, NY’s The Demos slots performing at CMJ, New York City’s inaugural Catalpa Festival, NxNE, Midpoint Music Festival, The International Pop Overthrow Festival, CBGB Fest any many more. The Demos were also chosen by CBGBs to perform on the headlining stage in Times Square for the festival in support of My Morning Jacket, Grizzly Bear, The Wallflowers, and Divine Fits. Their performance at Catalpa gave them a mention in SPIN Magazine’s coverage of the event. The Demos have also toured with Jukebox The Ghost (Yep Roc) and Maps & Atlases (Barsuk). Singer/songwriter Justin Bachulak’s soulful, reverb-laden vocals and 80’s horror-movie synths, flow like a river with dream-weaving guitarist Dustin Lau’s swells and pedal work which add space and emotion to The Leones’ (out of Buffalo, NY) haunting yet natural sound. Currently evolving with shades lush dream-pop, The Leones never miss a chance to explore their dark side moving from chilling, minor 7th chord ghost stories that transition into uplifting, major choruses. Backed by vintage bass lines and layers of soundscape synths from Wren Williams Werner and dynamic drumming from Kevin Carney the quartet touch on everything from the desolate end of Neil Young and Crazy Horse, into Jim James and The War on Drugs territory and most currently- Beach House and Wild Nothing. Catch these three powerhouses, along with a solo set from Leyda this Friday, April 5th at Nietzsche’s! Doors open at 9:00pm, and the cover is only $8 at the door for this ages 21 or older show.
