NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles concluded play in the Fort Myers Tip-Off with a 75-63 defeat to the Saint Francis Brooklyn Terriers on Saturday night.
Game Summary
The Saint Francis Brooklyn Terriers used a 14-1 run midway through the second half to break open a game that featured 11 lead changes and seven ties.
Dominic Robb made a pair of free throws for a 49-48 lead with 10:25 remaining in the game. SFC’s Jordan Jalen made consecutive 3-pointers to spark the 14-1 run as the Terriers seized control. SFC, which led as many as 16 points, managed a double digit lead for the rest of the game.
The scoring outburst by the Terriers and Niagara’s scoring drought in the final 10 minutes of the contest were an anomaly from the rest of the game. Both teams exchanged runs and lead changes throughout the previous 30 minutes of action.
Keleaf Tate and Raheem Solomon got Niagara off to a 4-0 start, which the Terriers followed with seven straight points. Trailing 14-11, four different Purple Eagles contributed points in a 9-0 run for a 20-14 lead with seven minutes left in the first half. Greg King converted a three-point play, Solomon nailed a jumper, and Greg Kuakumensah and Marcus Hammond each made a driving layups. There would be two more ties and three more lead changes as Saint Francis Brooklyn went into halftime with a slender 31-30 lead.
The Purple Eagles started the second half on a 7-2 run and led 42-38 with 14 minutes remaining. The lead flipped three more times before Robb’s two free throws gave the Purple Eagles a 49-48 lead.
Eagle’s Eye On…
- Dominic Robb led the Purple Eagles in scoring with a season-high 17 points on 6 of 12 shooting from the field. Robb also swatted a game-high four blocks.
- After being scoreless in the first four games of the season, Greg Kuakumensah poured in 10 points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds for his first career double-double while playing in a career-high 25 minutes.
- Raheem Solomon netted 12 points, grabbed a career-high six rebounds and had a steal in his first career start.

- Dominic Robb had his 25th career 3-plus block game and fourth this season. Robb is now tied for third on the career blocks list with 177.
- Niagara made 19 free throws while Saint Francis Brooklyn only attempted 17 free throws. This marks the third time this season that Niagara has either made more or tied in free throws made than it opponent has attempted.
- Marvin Prochet missed his first career game at Niagara, snapping a streak of 102 straight appearances.
