BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Canisius cross country programs sent select runners to the Bronx, N.Y., to compete in the ECAC/IC4A Championships, Saturday morning. In the final meet of the season, the men’s team finished in 16th position, while the women placed 17th.
 
Senior Paul Henry led the way for the Golden Griffins, crossing the line in 24:21. Freshman Richard Moore(25:04), sophomores Turner Dirrigl (25:29) and Jordan Obrochta (35:59) followed. Junior Marcus Brown(26:20), senior Brandon Williams (26:53) and freshman Michael Gianadda (27:12) completed the Canisius top-seven.
 
With their 16th place finish as a team, the Blue and gold finished behind MAAC foe’s Rider (11th), Marist (9th), Monmouth (7th) and Siena (6th). Siena’s Evans Kibet finished the race in fourth place with a time of 22:56.
 
On the women’s side, Canisius was led by senior Mary Manzari who recorded a time of 19:02. Behind Manzari was junior Jaci Wallace (19:58), freshman Libby Benzer (20:14) and senior Christian Conner (20:22). Senior Katie Simon (20:50), sophomore Isabella Iadicicco (20:52) and senior Hannah Latragna (20:59) all finished within nine seconds of each other, with no other runners between them to round out the Griffs top-seven.
 
Monmouth (13th), Rider (10th), Siena (5th) and Marist (2nd) all finished ahead of the Golden Griffins in the women’s team standings.
 
Next up
With the conclusion of the cross country season, the Griffs will prepare for the indoor track season, with the MAAC Indoor Championships set for Feb. 16-17, 2019 at the New Balance Armory in New York, N.Y.
