McLaughlin_Heath POW awards
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Canisius seniors Cameron Heath and Dylan McLaughlin were recognized as the Atlantic Hockey Association handed out its Travel Team USA weekly awards on Tuesday.

Heath was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Week while McLaughlin was tabbed as the circuit’s Player of the Week for a second consecutive week.

The duo combined to record three goals and four assists in the Golden Griffins’ 6-3 victory over ECAC Hockey foe Clarkson last Saturday at Harborcenter.

Heath recorded a power-play goal in the first period and pitched in a career-high three assists in the victory over the Golden Knights. The Troy, Mich., native recorded three of his four points while the Griffs were on the power play as Canisius was 4-for-6 with the man advantage.

McLaughlin, meanwhile, opened and closed the scoring for the Griffs as he got Canisius on the board with an even-strength marker in the first period before adding a power-play tally in the third to put the game away. The Lancaster, N.Y., product also assisted on sophomore Austin Alger’s game-winning goal in the second period.

Canisius (4-4-0, 3-3-0 AHA) returns to action Tuesday when it travels to AHA foe RIT for a 7 p.m. contest at the Gene Polisseni Center in Rochester.
