The Canisius men’s soccer team plays its final road contest of the 2018 season Saturday when it faces Manhattan in a 6 p.m. Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s soccer contest at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, N.Y.
 
Last Time Out
• Birgir Thorsteinsson tallied both goals and Greg Monroe recorded six saves to lead Siena to a 2-0 victory over Canisius Wednesday at the Siena Turf Field in Loudonville, N.Y.
• Thorseteinsson opened the scoring a little more than 13 minutes into the contest before adding an insurance marker in the 64th minute to seal the victory.  
• Senior Bryce Tramuta finished with seven saves in goal for the Griffs.
• Each team registered 18 shots during the contest as Canisius posted a 10-6 edge in the first half while Siena enjoyed an 11-7 advantage in the second half.
• Canisius posted a 5-3 edge in corner kicks taken during the contest.
• Freshman Alessio Atzori led the Griffs with three shot attempts during the contest.
 
Scouting Manhattan
• The Jaspers head into Saturday’s contest looking to solidify their place in the MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship as they begin play tied with Rider for the sixth and final spot in the postseason tournament.
• Brandon Joseph-Budai and Berti Fourier have provided a solid 1-2 scoring punch for Manhattan as Joseph-Budai leads the team in both goals (5) and points (12) while Fourier paces the squad in assists (5) while ranking second in points (11).
• Marcellin Gohier has started all but one game in goal for the Jaspers this season. Gohier boasts a 0.67 save percentage and a .811 save percentage in 1344 minutes played.
 
Canisius-Manhattan Series Notes
• Saturday’s game serves as the 28th contest between Canisius and Manhattan.
• The Griffs hold a slim 12-11-4 lead in the all-time series and enter Saturday’s matchup with a four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1) against the Jaspers that dates back to the 2014 season.
• The teams played to a 1-1 draw last October at the Demske Sports Complex. Filippo Tamburini recorded the lone goal for the Griffs while Lucas Da Silva countered for the Jaspers.
