CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Canisius cross country heads east to Loudonville, N.Y. to compete in the 2018 MAAC Championships this Saturday. Race times are set for 11 a.m. for the men and 12 p.m. for the women.
Last Time Out
• The Golden Griffins are coming off a pair of second-place finishes at the Canisius Alumni Classic.
• Senior Siobhan Quinn placed first in the women’s race with a time of 17:40, 31 seconds ahead of second-place finisher, fellow senior Carlin Sullivan, who crossed the finish line in 18:11.
• Senior Kayla Stewart, junior Justyna Wilkinson, sophomore Emily Scheck and freshman Carly Benson andBailey Pierce recorded top-25 finishes for the Griffs.
• On the men’s side, the Griffs were once again led by junior Nick Neamtu who recorded a third-place finish with a time of 24:45.
• Seniors Patrick Crowley and Paul Henry, juniors Anthony Belfatto and Henry Burton, and freshmanMichael Peppy all recorded top-20 finishes for the men.
• Neamtu and Quinn have finished each race as the Blue and Gold’s top-finisher.
• Quinn was named MAAC Runner of the Week on two occasions this season, the first coming after her performance at the Little Three Championship, followed by her outing at the National Catholic Championships.
MAAC Championship History
• This will be the first time the conference championships will be held in Loudonville, N.Y. at the Crossings of Colonie.
• At the 2017 MAAC Championships, Canisius finished fourth on the men’s side, while the women finished fifth.
• Quinn took home the 2016 MAAC Championship Individual Title with a time of 21:19. The senior has never finished outside the top-10 at the conference championships.
• The Canisius women have won five MAAC Championships, highlighted by three consecutive titles from 1990-1993.
• The men’s team has finished in second place at the MAAC Championships a total of ten times, most recently in 2016.
• Iona has won an unprecedented 27-straight MAAC Men’s Cross Country Championships, the longest active streak in NCAA.
• On the women’s side, Iona has won a conference best 12 times, followed by Manhattan with six and the Griffs with five. Marist has taken home four team titles, while Quinnipiac has one.

• The Blue and Gold will return to Western New York to compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional, hosted by the University at Buffalo, Nov. 10.
