NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are back in action this weekend, heading to Binghamton on Saturday, Oct. 20. The men will compete in a dual match with the Bearcats and the women will face Binghamton and Siena in a tri-meet.
Men’s Meet Notes
- The men’s team opened its season with a dominant 154-65 over Fredonia on Oct. 5, winning every event they competed in against the Blue Devils.
- Dalton Stier had a strong collegiate debut, winning both the 200 free (1:47.95) and the 200 fly (1:57.27).
- Nicolas Winograd was a double winner in individual events. He won the 50 free with a time of 21.79 and the 500 free with a time of 4:56.90.
- The relay team of Harry Fox, Gary Rockwood, Edgar Melchor and Nick Rogers were victorious in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:43.61.
- Daniel Leskowicz placed first in the 1000 free, swimming the event in 10:42.04.
- Andreas Rintel placed first in the 200 IM (1:59.94). Gary Rockwood finished second in the event and Justin Sagasta took third.
- Noah Barnard earned a win in the 1-meter dive with a score of 208.27 and in the 3-meter dive with a score of 224.47.
- Rogers placed first in the 100 free (48.39) and Fox took first in the 200 back (2:00.97).
- Melchor was victorious in the 200 breast, finishing the event in 2:12.90.
- The relay team of Winograd, Stier, Rintel and Leskowicz placed first in the 400 free relay (3:21.78).
Last Meeting With Binghamton
- In their last meeting with the Bearcats on Oct. 21, 2017, the Purple Eagles fell to Binghamton, 191-107.
Women’s Meet Notes
- In their last outing, the Purple Eagles defeated Fredonia, 155-57. The team won all the events at the dual meet.
- The Purple Eagles won every event they competed in against Fredonia.
- Hayley Tasselmyer had a stellar night, breaking the program’s 200 breast record with a time of 2:27.98.
- Avery Sanquist was a double winner. She placed first in the 1000 free (10:39.35) and the 500 free (5:15.46).
- Isabella DeSimone placed first in the 50 free with a time of 25.54. She also placed first in the 100 free (56.23).
- Hannah Charlton was also a double winner. She won the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.24 and the 200 fly with a time of 2:15.42.
- On the 1-meter dive, Gailyn Graff earned a score of 168.07 to win the event. She also won the 3-meter dive with a score of 200.62.
- The relay team of DeSimone, Tasselmyer, Delaney Labue and Yvonne Schere took first in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:05.73.
- Labue was victorious in the 200 free, finishing the event in 2:01.58.
- Lauren Nicastro took first in the 200 back, finishing the event in 2:17.54.
- The relay team of Sanquist, Marlane Hochgraf, Nicastro and Tasselmyer placed first in the 400 free relay, swimming the event in 3:51.05.
Last Meeting With Binghamton
- The Purple Eagles fell to the Bearcats, 182.50-117.50 in the teams’ last meeting on Oct. 21, 2017.
Last Meeting With Siena
- The Purple Eagles defeated conference opponent Siena, 195-99 in their last matchup with the Saints on Oct. 21, 2017.
