ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Elmira served up 12 aces compared to none by Buffalo State as the Soaring Eagles cruised to a straight-set win over the Bengals, 25-15, 25-13 and 25-10 tonight in the opening day of the RIT Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Elmira assembled an 8-0 run late in the first set to pull away for the 25-15 win to open the match.  The Soaring Eagles jumped out to an early 10-2 lead in the second set and coasted to the 25-13 win.  The third set was more of the same as Elmira never trailed en route to a decisive 25-10 decision.
  • Buffalo State posted a minus-0.49 attack percentage with 23 errors against 19 kills.
  • Brooke Federko (Jamestown/Jamestown) led Buffalo State with 15 assists to go with two blocks.
  • Eimile O’Brien (Marietta/Marcellus) also had two blocks and four kills.

 
FOR THE FOES

  • Taylor Kaznowski had 28 assists and three aces to lead Elmira.  Tiara John added 10 kills.
