BUFFALO, N.Y. —  Buffalo State was unable to hang on to a pair of leads as Oswego rallied to earn a 3-2 double-overtime victory in a SUNAYC battle today at Coyer Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Freshman Olivia Colby (Buffalo/Kenmore East) opened the scoring in the 21st minute with her second goal of the season on a back-post header off a corner kick from Allie Reeds (E. Amherst/Williamsville South).
  • Oswego managed a similar goal in the 32nd minute to even the score on a header from a cross near the left corner.
  • Kyndal Hetzel (Hilton/Hilton) regained the lead for Buffalo State in the 57th minute, heading a free kick into the box past the Laker keeper.  Reeds drew her second assist of the contest.
  • Buffalo State appeared poised to claim the 2-1 victory, limiting Oswego’s chances until the Lakers finally knotted the score on a deflected shot in the 79th minute. 
  • Oswego then ended the contest in the 102nd minute when Liz Myers outran the Bengals’ defense to catch a long ball down the right wing and lofted a shot inside of the far post.
  • Buffalo State finished the contest with a 12-9 advantage in shot attempts, but the Lakers had a 7-5 edge in shots on goal.
  • Emma Krenzer (Scottsville/Aquinas) finished with four saves in goal.

 
FOR THE FOES

  • Mackenzie Schaffner scored twice for Oswego with Myers adding a goal and an assist.
  • Emma Allen made three saves.
