BUFFALO, N.Y. — Lisa Liotta has been named Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Canisius, Director of Athletics Bill Maher announced on Friday.

Liotta joins the Golden Griffin athletic department after spending the previous three years as the associate director of athletics for student-athlete welfare and SWA at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.

In her new role with the Griffs, Liotta will work closely with the Canisius coaching and student-services staffs to ensure a quality experience for the College’s 390 student-athletes in competition, in the classroom and within the campus community.

“I am excited to have Lisa Liotta join our athletic staff and the Canisius College community,” Maher said. “Lisa brings a diverse skill set to Canisius after more than 10 years as an athletic administrator. We look forward to her becoming part of the Golden Griffin family and helping us provide an outstanding experience for our student-athletes.”

At Findlay, Liotta collaborated with various parties on campus to ensure student-athlete academic success while also helping implement a development program for over 700 student-athletes targeting personal, professional and academic growth. In addition to her responsibilities at Findlay, Liotta served as a senior member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) Administrative Athletic Council.

Prior to her time at Findlay, she served as the associate athletic director and SWA at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, where she managed all department operations and worked closely with the school’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

A former NCAA Division III student-athlete herself at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, Liotta got her start in college athletics at her alma mater as the assistant coordinator of student-athlete services. From that role, she went on to Lake Erie College, where she served as the school’s athletic facility coordinator and assistant softball coach before being elevated to athletic facility coordinator and game-event operations manager in 2008. After three years in that position, she was again promoted in 2011, when she was named assistant director of athletics/SWA at Lake Erie College.

Liotta earned four varsity letters and served as a team captain for two seasons while playing softball at Baldwin-Wallace before earning her undergraduate degree in sport management and business administration. She later received master’s degree in business administration at Lake Erie College.

Liotta replaces Traci Murphy, who served as Canisius’ associate athletic director and SWA for 13 years before leaving the College to take over as director of athletics at Daemen College in August.
