SULLIVAN – Michael T., III. The family of Michael T. Sullivan III of Amherst announces his death on September 18, 2018 at the age of 56. Mike was the oldest son of Wanda and the late Michael T. Sullivan, Jr. As a youngster, Mike followed the local sports teams and developed a passion for basketball. While a student at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, Mike was named to the All Catholic and All Western New York teams, and named MVP of the Manhattan Cup Tournament in his senior year.
After graduating from the University of Rochester, he moved to Boston and received an M.B.A. from Boston College. He lived and worked in Boston for 21 years, primarily as a hedge fund manager. He also wrote a weekly column for the Boston Herald called “Trader in a Fishbowl” which chronicled his experiences as a commodities trader and was an on-air contributor to the Fox Television WFXT Boston Morning Show. Returning to Western New York in 2005, Mike served as a small business financial consultant and also worked for his brother’s business.
Please remember Mike as a kind-hearted son, brother, uncle, and friend. Mike also had a fondness for pets.
In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by siblings Mary (Jim Halter), Anne Forrestel (Andrew), Mark (Jennifer), John (Mercy), Jim (Noemi), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will be present at LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME, 885 Niagara Falls Blvd. in Amherst on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 2:00-8:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Benedict’s Church, 1317 Eggert Rd. in Amherst, on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 9:30 AM.
