ELMIRA, N.Y. — For the third time in her Elmira College career, Natalie Schieder ’19 was named the Empire 8 Conference’s Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week, as announced by the league on September 24.

Schieder is coming off of a week in which she accumulated 51 kills, 54 digs, six aces and three blocks in four matches, including a pair of Empire 8 victories over Utica and Sage during Saturday’s tri-match at Speidel Gymnasium. She also led EC in kills per set (3.40) and digs per set (3.60), to go along with a pair of double-doubles.

The fourth-year outside hitter from Alden, New York, Schieder began her week with a season-high 20 kills and 18 digs in a four-set loss in the 2018 home opener against Pitt-Bradford on September 17. The following night against Houghton, she floored eight kills with 10 digs and one service ace. Schieder then logged her second double-double with 15 kills and a season-best 20 digs in a 3-1 victory over Utica at Speidel Gymnasium on September 22. In the second half of Saturday’s E8 tri-match, the senior totaled eight kills, six digs, two aces and two blocks to help Elmira sweep Sage in three sets.

Through the first 13 matches of the year, Schieder, a reigning E8 All-Conference First Team selection, ranks fourth in the conference in kills per set (3.33) and second in aces per set (0.59).
