ELMIRA, N.Y. — After guiding the Soaring Eagles to a 3-2 mark this past week, senior setter Taylor Kaznowski ’19 of Blasdell, NY, was recognized for her efforts as she was named the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the second time in her career.

Kaznowski started the week off with a 10-assist performance as the Soaring Eagles rolled over Hilbert, 3-0, on Tuesday, September 11. The Hamburg, New York native heated up at the Oswego State Invitational, tallying 118 assists across four matches to earn First-Team All-Tournament honors. The senior led EC to a three-set victory against D’Youville with a double-double, posting 24 assists and 11 digs. Against St. Lawrence, Elmira pushed the Saints to five sets as Kaznowski posted her third double-double of the season after tallying a match-high 29 assists and adding 10 digs, while also chipping in with a season-best four aces.

On day two of the tournament, the setter posted 36 assists against Oswego State as the Soaring Eagles battled the host Lakers to four sets. EC rallied against SUNY Canton to close the tournament, as Kaznowski orchestrated the Purple and Gold’s attack to the tune of 29 assists to lead Elmira to a three-sets-to-none victory.

Kaznowski currently ranks second in the Empire 8 with an average of 7.29 assists per set, despite playing the fewest sets out of the six qualified student-athletes.
