HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Streaks opened the scoring just 46 seconds into the contest and before the dust settled, they netted a second goal to take a 2-0 lead just 1:07 into the game.
- Buffalo State settled in from there, finishing the first half with a 6-5 edge in shots, but still trailed by two at halftime.
- Olivia Colby (Buffalo/Kenmore East) put Buffalo State on the scoreboard in the 61st minute with her first collegiate goal on a back-post header off a corner kick from Allie Reeds (E. Amherst/Williamsville South). Colby’s try was deemed to just cross the goal line inside the far post before it was knocked away by a John Carroll defender.
- Reeds nearly evened the score just moments later when she sprinted down the right flank and ripped a shot off the far goalpost.
- The Blue Streaks held the Bengals off from there and added an insurance marker in the 84th minute on a long breakaway off a well-placed through ball.
- Buffalo State finished with an 11-9 edge in shots. Taylor Carillo (Pine Bush/Pine Bush) finished with one save in goal for the Bengals.
FOR THE FOES
- Bailey Fischer scored her fifth and sixth goals of the season for the Blue Streaks, and Sydney Scello also scored.
