ITHACA, N.Y. — Canisius junior Jaret Chipman shot an even-par 71 in the second round as the Golden Griffins played 36 holes on the first day of the Cornell Invitational at the Robert Trent Jones Course in Ithaca, N.Y.
 
As a team, Canisius posted scores of 299-304 for a two-round team score of 603, which is 14th in the field.
 
GRIFFS’ LINEUP
Chipman’s 71, which stands as his lowest round of the 2018 fall season, moved him into a tie for 33rd in the field. He shot a 75 in the first round and sits at plus-4 on the leaderboard with a two-round score of 146. SophomoreMatt Genaway and John Dantonio are tied for 61st in the tournament with two-round scores of 152, while freshman Mike Donner is tied for 66th after he carded a 76-77 – 153 on Saturday.
 
TEAM LEADERBOARD
Tale leads the team portion of the event with a two-round score of 554, which is 14-under par as a team. Saint Joseph’s is in second place after the first day of action at 573, while Penn (575), Bucknell (577) and Temple (578) round out the top-five. Canisius is in 14th place.
 
INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
Siena’s Jared Nelson leads the tournament after two rounds with a score of 134, which is eight-under par after a pair of 67s by Nelson. Nelson is one of 13 players at even, or better, in the field. Four of those golfers under-par play for Yale.
 
NEXT ON THE TEE
The Griffs will close out their stay at the Cornell Invitational on Sunday. Tee times are set to begin at 9 a.m.
