JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Saint Peter’s freshman Brooke Boutchie scored her second goal of the season in the 36th minute as the Canisius women’s soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback to Saint Peter’s Saturday at Caven Point Field in Jersey City, N.J.

With the loss, the Golden Griffins fell to 3-3-1 on the season and 0-1 in MAAC play. The Peacocks improved to 1-6-0 and 1-0 in MAAC play with the win.

Boutchie put the Peacocks on the board after she booted a free kick from the center of the field that tipped off of Canisius keeper Alana Rossi‘s fingers and into the back-right corner of the net.

Rossi was credited with three saves while Saint Peter’s keeper Victoria Scarratt was credited with one save in her first victory of the campaign.

The Peacocks out shot the Griffs, 6-4, and held a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal. Canisius held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks for the contest.

Head Coach Todd Clark‘s Postgame Comments
It’s a very disappointing loss. We didn’t have focus in the warm-up and it lead directly into the game. The focus and effort just wasn’t there for us today.”
