wxc freemire klinowskiLOUDONVILLE, N.Y. — Racing for the first time this fall at The Crossings at Colonie, Niagara University’s women’s cross country finished ninth at the course that will host the 2018 MAAC Cross Country Championships in October. For the second straight week, Nora Klinowski was the first Purple Eagle to finish the race.

Meet Marks
  • Klinowski led the Purple Eagles by finishing the 5k with a time of 20:10.6.
  • Freshmen Annina Marullo (20:16.1), Meggie Hart (20:36.1) and Elle Russell (21:06.6) finished 2-3-4 for the second consecutive competition. All three wound up inside the top 60.
  • Julia Freemire posted a time of 21:25.1 to complete the team scoring.
  • Stephanie Webster (21:53.8) and Mallory Ronan (22:03.8) also finished in the top half of all female runners.
  • Overall, the women had 263 points and an average race time of 20:42.9.
Coach’s Corner
  • Head coach Christine Kloiber: “Our women’s team this year has a really nice piece of synergy and we’ve always performed best when that camaraderie is there. They’re also a pretty sharp squad and understand that the season is a process; that we use every experience as a learning experience and we can’t PR every meet. With a little bit of rest, they’ll be eager and very ready when we go to Lehigh.”

  • Niagara will have the next two weekends off from competition prior to the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, PA. The women’s 6k will begin at 1 p.m.
