UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The University at Buffalo wrestling program has released its schedule for the upcoming 2018-19 season and once again it looks to be very challenging. Among UB’s opponents include Big Ten foes Wisconsin, Michigan State and three-time defending national champion Penn State.
“With eight seniors, three NCAA qualifiers and one World Team member, I am excited about this year’s team,” head coach John Stutzman said. “I am especially excited about the time and energy they have put in this summer. The great balance of this year’s schedule will challenge each individual and help us prepare for the MAC and NCAA Championships.”
The Bulls will open the season with a dual at Wisconsin on November 1. It will be the first meeting between the schools.
On November 11, Buffalo will travel to central Pennsylvania to compete in the Bucknell Duals. The Bulls will face host Bucknell as well as VMI and Cleveland State. UB will compete at the Army Invitational on November 18.
Another Big Ten opponent awaits the Bulls in late November when UB travels to Michigan State on November 28. The Bulls open December with duals at Binghamton on December 6 and at George Mason on December 8.
The Bulls will open Mid-American Conference action on December 16 at Missouri. The Tigers have won six straight MAC titles.
Buffalo will host its first home dual of the season on December 23 when it welcomes Clarion to Alumni Arena. The Bulls will close out December at the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships in Illinois on December 29 and 30.
The Bulls will host Hofstra on January 6 before embarking on a stretch of six straight MAC duals. UB will wrestle at new-MAC-member SIU-Edwardsville on January 11, at Old Dominion on January 18 and at Kent State on January 25.
Buffalo will host three straight MAC duals beginning with Central Michigan on February 8. The Bulls will host Ohio on February 17 and Northern Illinois on February 22.
For the second straight season, Buffalo will close out the regular season at Penn State, one of the nation’s most storied programs, at Rec Hall on February 24. The Nittany Lions have won seven of the last eight national championships.
The Mid-American Conference Championships being on March 8 at Old Dominion. The NCAA Championships will be held in Pittsburgh beginning March 21.
