PAWTUCKET, R.I. — The Bisons fell to the PawSox in the series finale, 4-1, from McCoy Stadium Thursday night. Pawtucket tied the game in the first and scored runs in the fourth and fifth innings to secure the victory.
The Bisons established a one-run lead early, but Pawtucket answered with an RBI-single from Sam Travis to tie the game. The PawSox took a 2-1 lead on a solo shot from Mike Ohlman in the fourth.
The PawSox had the bases loaded with nobody out in the fifth and cashed in on the opportunity. Travis hit his second RBI-single of the game. Then, Ivan De Jesus Jr. helped tack on another run when he grounded into a double play. Rusney Castillo scored on the play to extend the lead to three runs.
Pawtucket had the bases loaded again in the sixth with one out, but Bisons’ reliever Jake Petrickainduced an inning-ending double play to escape the frame unharmed.
After a three-hit team performance in the loss Wednesday, the Bisons wasted no time to warm up the bats against the PawSox. Rowdy Tellez, hitting in the three spot, slashed an RBI-single to the opposite field to score Darnell Sweeney in the first.
The offense was slowed to a halt from there as the Herd was unable to score after its first turn at-bat. Sweeney had a multi-hit game, collecting singles in the third and eighth innings.
Despite taking the loss, Herd starter Sean Reid-Foley threw five complete innings and struck out seven batters.
The Bisons will now return home to Coca-Cola Field to take on the division-leading LehighValley IronPigs in a three-game set beginning Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
