PavoneBUFFALO, N.Y. — Luke Pavone (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) concluded his senior season at Buffalo State this past fall and has now signed a two-year contract to continue his soccer career at the professional level in Liga Leumit, the second division league in Israel.

Pavone will play for Hapeol Petah Tkva FC which is based roughly 30 minutes east of Tel Aviv.  He will leave on June 25 with preseason beginning on the 27th and the league regular season kicking off in August.  The season for the 16-team league runs through May and the two lowest-placed teams are relegated to Liga Alef while the two highest-placed Liga Leumit teams are promoted to the Israeli Premier League.

Pavone played two full seasons at Buffalo State, plus a medical hardship year in 2016, after transferring from Division I UMass Amherst.  In 38 games with the Bengals, the midfielder produced 19 goals and nine assists for 47 career points.  He was a two-time All-SUNYAC and All-Region selection and was named second team All-America during his senior campaign.
