NIAGARA UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS


LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Niagara University track and field team wrapped up competition at the 2018 MAAC Championships on Sunday.
 
Meet Marks (Track)

  • Akira Thornton, who set a collegiate personal record time in the 100 meter on Saturday, finished seventh in final with a time of 12.74.
  • Freshman Emma Bagnato placed sixth in the 400 meter with a time of 58.72.
  • In the 4x400m relay, the team of – Emma Bagnato, Maggie Doyle, Casey Leader, Sarah Grubbs –  had a season-best time of 4:11.85 for a seventh place finish.
  • Julia Rak had a season-best distance in the triple jump (9.87) to lead the Purple Eagles.
  • Mallory Ronan led Niagara in the 5000m with a time of 20:36.54, which was close to her PR

 
Meet Marks (Field)

  • Morgan Palmer had a top-5 finish in the discus. Palmer placed fifth with a discus throw of 40.79 meters. Maggie Gerard (37.08m) and Erin Clark (29.73m) each set personal records in the discus.
  • Maggie Gerard finished 11th in the shot put with a distance of 11.45 meters on her final toss.
  • Morgan Palmer placed 12th (11.14m) and Erin Clark was 16th (8.47m).

 
As a team, the Purple Eagles finished in eighth place (13) ahead of Saint Peter’s and Canisius.
