BUFFALO STATE ATHLETICS

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Ronni Kordrupel (East Aurora/Iroquois) and Buffalo State’s women’s track and field team will compete at the SUNYAC Championships at Geneseo this Friday and Saturday.

Kordrupel enters the meet as the Bengals’ best hope for a SUNYAC title as she won the 800-meter run at this year’s indoor meet and was third last year at the outdoor championships.  She is the top seed in the event entering this weekend (2:14.77) and is also ranked fourth in the 1,500-meter run (4:44.81).  She will also likely run a leg of the 4×400-meter relay.

Throwers Tianna Gillenwater (New Rochelle/New Rochelle) and Cheila Diao (Latham/Shaker) will look to add valuable points for the Bengals.  Gillenwater is seeded third in the shot put (11.91m), while Diao is sixth in the hammer throw (42.06m). Alex Motz (Alden/Alden) and Gillenwater will also compete in the discus.

Ashley Lyons (Freeport/Freeport) leads three Bengals looking to earn points in the 400-meter dash along with Tashana Dixon (White Plains/Woodlands) and Chassity Carrion (Nesconset/Sachem North).  Dixon will also compete in the 200-meter dash.

Jaclyn Tedesco (Cheektowaga/Cleveland Hill) will look to improve on an 11th-place seeding in the 1,500-meter run to climb into the top-eight and the Bengals will also look to secure top points in the 4×100-meter relay.

Buffalo State will look to improve on a seventh-place finish a year ago.

The meet begins on Friday at 2 p.m. and resumes on Saturday at 9 a.m.
