BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo State’s Danielle Szymkowiak (Cheektowaga/Cheektowaga) was named the SUNYAC Softball Player of the Week after pacing the Bengals to a 4-0 weekend in conference play.
 
The senior business administration major hit .636 (7 of 11) with a home run, two doubles, six RBIs and three runs scored as the Bengals swept a SUNYAC weekend taking two each from Plattsburgh and Potsdam. The centerfielder was perfect on six chances in the field as well, including throwing out the potential tying run at the plate in the seventh inning of the Bengals 5-4 victory over Plattsburgh on Saturday.
 
Szymkowiak is currently hitting .355 for the season and has a team-best three home runs.  She also has a .974 fielding percentage.
 
Buffalo State is slated to visit Brockport for another SUNYAC doubleheader on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
