LAKE BUENA VISTA, F.L. — The Niagara women’s golf team completed the final round of the MAAC Championships on Sunday. The team finished in seventh place with a three-round total score of 987 (+123).

“I’m proud of how our team played this week,” said head coach Jason Polka. “Even though we didn’t improve on our position from last year, our scores were better. This shows progress. I’m looking forward to getting started again in the fall.”

Emily Doyle led the Purple Eagles, finishing tied for 12th place. She carded an 81 (+9) in the final round for a total score of 239 (+23).

Sydney Shaw jumped nine spots up the leaderboard from round two, finishing tied for 19th. She fired a 75 (+3) in the third round, which is her lowest career round. Shaw finished with a total score of 242 (+26).

Sarah Godfrey took 22nd place, with a three-round total of 243 (+27). She shot 82 (+10) in the final round.

Daniella Hopper finished in 39th place. She carded an 87 (+15) in the final round and an overall score of 263 (+47).

The conference also revealed the MAAC All-Academic Teams on Sunday. Marissa Del Monaco, Emily Doyle, Allison Emborsky, Danielle Hopper and Britteny Purcell were all named to the team. To qualify, a student-athlete must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher and have completed two semesters at his or her institution.
