UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS

PRINCETON, N.J. — The University at Buffalo track and field team is competing at the Larry Invitational hosted by Princeton University this weekend and posted some solid results on the first day on Friday.
The Bulls excelled in the women’s hammer throw. Both Miranda Daucher and Jess Dhaliwall posted personal best marks on the day.  Daucher’s throw of 55.45m/181’11 was good for fourth place and moved her to fourth in the MAC.  As for Dhaliwall, the senior threw 1m over her previous personal best.
“No doubt our throwers are competing with Jake Madonia in their minds and hearts,” head coach Vicki Mitchell said.
On the track, Laura Libruk nailed a 17 second personal best mark in the 3k steeple chase, which currently ranks her sixth on the MAC list.
Leon Atkins ran a very smart tactical race to take second in his heat of the men’s Invitational 800m in a time of 1:53.33.  Over the last 200m, he moved from fourth to just being out-leaned for first place.
Meanwhile in the men’s invitational 1500m, Thomas Flannery ran a new personal best of 3:58.87.
Competition will conclude on Saturday with the rest of the field events and track events.
