CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Canisius sophomore David Hanes has been named the MAAC Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

Hanes was Canisius’ top individual performer at the FAU Spring Championship last weekend after he posted a three-round score of 216, which was even-par for the tournament. Hanes shot back-to-back rounds of 73 before closing out the weekend with a two-under-par score of 70 on Sunday to help him earn a tie for 27th in the field. The 54-hole score of 216 sets a new career low for the Elma, N.Y., native, and it allowed him to rank as the Griffs’ top individual finisher in 11 of his 12 career events.

The Golden Griffins return to action April 14-15, when the Blue and Gold travels to take part in the Navy Spring Invitational at the Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Md.
