EDISON, N.J. – Niagara freshman forward Luca Pacheco was named the Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), announced on Monday.
Luca Pacheco scored the first two goals of his Niagara career last week, striking once in each half during a 2-0 victory over Saint Peter’s on Oct. 7. Pacheco tracked a long pass from Bautista Pedezert and flicked a shot over the keeper to open the scoring in the 21st minute. He later ripped a 25-yard free kick into the top right corner to double Niagara’s lead in the 58th minute. Pacheco’s two goals are tied for the Niagara team lead, as he is joined by Asante Carroll and Zulfikar Karimi.
Pacheco and the Purple Eagles are back in action with two MAAC games this week, hitting the road to face Siena at 3 p.m. Wednesday before hosting the Rider Broncs at Niagara Field at 12 p.m. Saturday.
