CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS


The Canisius golf team posted a team score of 307 on Sunday and a pair of Golden Griffin golfers tied for 36th in the field, as the Blue and Gold closed out its trip to the Bucknell Invitational, played at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa. As a team, Canisius placed 12th in the field with a 36-hole score of 604.

Senior Mark Lesinski and freshman Michael Wells finished the two-day event with a score of 150, which tied the two Griffs for 36th in the field. Sophomore Jaret Chipman tied for 47th with a tournament score of 152, while junior John Dantonio earned a tie for 58th with his score of 154. Dantonio and freshman Matt Genaway led the way for Canisius by shooting 76 on Sunday.

Wayne State won the team title with its two-round score of 571, while Wayne State golf Brendan Seys won individual medalist honors after he defeated St. Francis University’s Austin Renz in a four-hole playoff. Both players posted a score of 135 for the two rounds.

Canisius will return to action next week when the team travels to take part in the Titan Motown Classic Oct. 16-17 at Prestwick Village Count Club in Highland, Mich.
