UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS


LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University at Buffalo track and field program completed day two of the NCAA East Preliminaries hosted by the University of Kentucky. The Bulls left the day with three new school records and three Top-20 finishes.

After qualifying for the quarterfinals in the men’s 400m at Thursday’s competition, senior Joshua Gali returned to the track. Gali clocked in at 46.33 for a new school record and an overall 15th place finish. Gali carried his record-breaking performance into the men’s 200m. He clocked in at 20.95 in the event to place fifth in his heat and become the first member of the Bulls to go sub-21 seconds in program history. His time placed him 27th overall in the race. Ryan Billian also added a new school record. Billian clocked in at 13.96 in the 110 hurdles, placing 20th overall.

Devon Patterson found himself among the Top-20 performers in the men’s shot put. Patterson threw for a distance of 17.91m to place 20th overall. Also performing well in the throws was Miranda Daucher. Daucher threw for a distance of 49.44m in the women’s discus throw. Her distance landed in 26th place overall.

Selina Von Jackowski and Sylvia Russell completed their seasons today. Von Jackowski clocked in at 13.87 in the 100HH, and Russell clocked in at 11:00.23 in the 3000m steeplechase.

The Bulls will try for a chance to continue on to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, OR on Saturday. Gyasi Morris, Joshua Gali, Brian Cummiskey, and Mitchell Moore will hit the track at 9:45pm to compete in the men’s 4X400 relay. The four Bulls currently hold the school record in the event with a time of 3:09.56, and will enter the race seeded 25th. Ryan Billian will also try for a spot at NCAAs, as he qualified for quarterfinals in the 110 hurdles.
