BEREA, Ohio— Buffalo State’s men’s 4×400-meter relay team capitalized on its opportunity tonight at the Baldwin Wallace Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet, moving up the national rankings one week before selection for the NCAA Championships.

NOTABLES

  • Robert Liebel (Tonawanda/Tonawanda), Cody Sikora (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda), Phil Giuga(Tonawanda/Tonawanda) and Mohamed Kouyate (Bronx/Dreamyard Prep) joined forces in the 4×400-meter relay to place third, but more importantly, post the seventh-best time in Division III this season, clocking 3:14.17.
  • Several other Bengals posted strong showings, but were not able to factor in the national rankings.
  • Darren Thompson (Buffalo/St. Joe’s) finished runner-up in the 200-meter dash (21.70), while Liebel was fourth (21.84).
  • Kouyate was third in the 400-meter dash (48.97).
  • The 4×100-meter relay of Liebel, Thompson, James Willard (Albany/Albany) and Elijah Lawal(Duanesburg/Duanesburg) also finished third (41.86).
  • The women’s 4×100-meter relay of Catarra Burroughs (Rochester/Wilson Magnet), Dayonna Holmes(Rochester/Charlotte), Satin Holmes (Rochester/Wilson Magnet) and Keanna McKnight (Queens/Springfield Gardens) crossed second in 48.24 seconds.
  • Dayonna Holmes was also runner-up in the long jump (5.46m).
